 Titanic was a worldwide sensation when it was released in 1997. 

Written and directed by James Cameron, the film tells the story of the tragic sinking of the Titanic on its maiden voyage, while also weaving in a classic love story. 

The film's length of 194 minutes is one of the longest for a commercial blockbuster in recent memory.

 Some say the length of the film is necessary as it mirrors the real-life timeline of the Titanic's sinking. However, unless you dislike overly idealistic love stories, it is a film worth watching.

The story of Titanic revolves around Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), a young woman on the maiden voyage of the Titanic, the world's largest luxury ship and a vessel believed to be indestructible.  Accompanied by her social-climbing mother Ruth (Frances Fisher) and her arrogant and wealthy fiancé Cal Hockley (Billy Zane), Rose is trapped in a loveless engagement and a life she doesn't want. 

 The film follows her journey as she meets Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a penniless artist, and they fall in love against the backdrop of the doomed ship's fateful voyage.
